Glucose Balance
At the winery, glucose (C6H1206) in grapes undergoes fermentation to produce?

At the winery, glucose (C6H1206) in grapes undergoes fermentation to produce
ethanol (CzH6O) and carbon dioxide (C02) according to the following equation:
C6H1206 (1) -+ CzHaO (1) + CO2 (g)
(A) Stoichiometrically balance the above equation
(B) Calculate the mass of ethanol produced from 1.6 Kg of glucose
Atomic masses: C= 12,0= 16,H=1

C6H12O6 =2 C2H6O +2 CO2

moles glucose = 1600 g / 180 g/mol= 8.89
moles ethanol = 8.89 x 2 =17.8
mass ethanol = 17.8 mol x 46 g/mol=818.8 g => 0.82 Kg at two significant figures
