What herbal medications should I use for IBS?

I have moderate acid reflux and symptoms of IBS. Not much acid but my biggest problems are gas, bloating, and loose stools. Sometimes the stool is nugget like and harder. Lots of abdominal pain. Doctors have been no help. Looking the natural herbal way. Any suggestions?

Have you tried Probiotics? I’ve done a lot of research on IBS because both my mother and brother have it and they have both seen HUGE benefits from taking a good probiotic daily. They have both independently told me that they could easily notice when they missed a few days of the Probiotics (like when they ran out or forgot).

It’s also common to develop irregularity after taking antibiotics for the same reason, but the Probiotics are the beneficial bacteria that lives in your intestinal tract and helps your body absorb the nutrients in your intestinal tract, which helps regularity.
I’d recommend getting a good probiotic with at least 3-5 strains and at least 4-6 billion viable organisms per dose if not more… you may want to try a higher dose at first to replenish everything right away, too. Give it a try for just 1 month and I’m willing to bet you’ll notice a huge difference even within the first couple weeks. Oh, and expect loose stools for the first day or two if you’ve had antibiotics before… it’s perfectly normal as your body’s way of trying to balance itself out and clears up within a day or so.

Also, if you’re having a lot of gas and bloating, you also may want to try some digestive enzymes. One of the biggest causes of gas is improper digestion and the digestive enzymes can help to break down that food. Another thing you may want to consider (especially if these don’t help as much) is to make a food diary… write what you eat at each meal and the times that you have gastric upset. It sounds kind of silly, but it’s actually a really good way to find a correlation between which foods cause the gas/bloating and can help you to narrow down which foods you may be allergic to (which is another cause of gas/bloating). I wish I had done that a good decade ago because I found out that I am sensitive to dairy… whenever I had too much milk or eggs in my diet, I got horrible gas, but it took me years to realize that (whereas a food diary could have helped me point it out much sooner). What do they say about hindsight being 20/20? ;-)
Good luck and I hope I helped!
