Nancy Vande Vrede holds a
Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice/Corrections
and a Master’s Degree in Counseling/Psychology both
from Western Michigan
University. She has gone far beyond the scope of those
degrees and has spent much time, effort and energy in
learning therapeutic skills and methods that she feels
are beneficial to those who are seeking answers to
questions about their lives. In having several “tools
in my tool kit”, Nancy feels that she can be intuitive
and at the same time methodical in attempting to
assist every client individually. Since each person is
different, every course of treatment is different and
individualized.
Having worked in
several agencies (Bethany Christian Services, Van
Buren County Public Health Department,
Gateway Recovery Services and as Clinical Supervisor
at the Link Crisis Center, all located in Michigan),
Nancy enjoys the freedom of private practice and being
able to be flexible, spontaneous, even unconventional
in her approach to counseling people. While still
maintaining a high ethical standard, Nancy
will go above and beyond traditional counseling to
address the issues of those people who come to her.

MASTER'S DEGREE LICENSED PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR |
|
Only those who hold a
Master’s Degree (MA) and have received 3,000 hours of
post-graduate supervision and have passed the National
Board for Certified Counselors (NCC) exam can be
licensed as Professional Counselors (LPC) in the State
of Michigan. |

CERTIFIED
ADDICTIONS COUNSELOR (CAC-I) |
|
This is a State of
Michigan Certification which is only given to
those who demonstrate a high level of proficiency,
experience and knowledge in the area of
addictions. A rigorous test is administered to
those who seek it. |

|
ACUPUNCTURE
DETOXIFICATION SPECIALIST |
|
Nancy received a grant
from the State of Michigan to be trained as an
Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist. Her trainer
was certified by NADA (National
Association of Detox Acupuncture). NADA is located
in New York City which is well known as the only
organization of its kind and the founder of this
treatment. |

CERTIFIED
HYPNOTHERAPIST |
|
The Wellness Institute of
Seattle, Washington is where Nancy learned
hypnotherapy. Accepting only Master’s levels
therapists, she engaged in 2 1/2 years of intensive
learning and group therapy, traveling as far as
Mexico, to receive training and experience
in hypnotic emotional release, breath work and
psychodrama. |

EMDR |
|
The EMDR Institute of
California is the only organization of it’s kind to
train Master’s level therapists to use this
state-of-the-art, cutting edge therapy to
resolve frozen trauma. Discovered by Francine Shapiro,
EMDR is a revolutionary, scientific, clinically
researched and documented technique that is quick,
safe and efficient in neutralizing the effects of
trauma. |
