EAR CONES/CANDLES

Ear candling is a therapeutic ancient practice that has been used for centuries in many cultures.  Ear candling (also called coning) involves using a hollow cylinder tube made with strips of cloth that are coated with wax. The tapered end is placed in the opening of the ear canal and the opposite end is lit with a lighter or match. As the ear candle burns down, the burning produces a spiraling heat vortex that spins and "draws" ear wax and/or excess fluid up and into the candle.

Ear Candling, is viewed by many as a non-invasive alternative to support the ear in its natural process of wax and debris removal from the ear canal.

Ear candles are used to clean ear canals safely and effectively. Ear drops cannot fully penetrate the entire ear canal the way heated smoke from ear candles can. The wax inside the ear is warmed up, loosened, and then pulled up by the vacuum created by the burning ear candle.

Coning is safe and painless.  Some people  become so relaxed they even fall asleep during coning!

Ear coning is not a cure-all, but has proven to be a successful and economic alternative to having Tympanotomy tubes inserted or having your ears flushed with water by a physician.  The non-invasive coning process has been known to improve hearing, lymph circulation, and balance.  Our clients report relief from tinnitus, vertigo, and pressure regulation.

Always cone with a partner who can keep an eye on the flame, so you can relax!

Directions for use: Ear candles are used on a person with the assistance of another by inserting the small end through a paper plate and placing that end into the ear. While the person using the ear candle lies sideways (with the ear candle pointing up toward the ceiling), the other person lights the ear candle with a match. When the ear candle burns down to about 3-4" from the paper plate, the other person removes it from the ear and puts the flame out by dipping the cone into a glass of water.

The ear candles sold at To Your Health! are hollow cones, about ten inches long and are are made from 100% unbleached muslin in a high grade, food quality wax (this prevents dripping and crumbling of wax and cloth inside the cone).

A word of caution:

Remember, ear coning is a home remedy and is not a cure for any disease or specific ailment.  Coning is not designed to take the place of professional medical advice or treatment when it is indicated.  It's important to note that some people should not use cones.  For instance, people who have had ear, nose, throat or sinus surgery recently, and those with tubes in the ears are not candidates for coning.  Anyone with ear drum rupture, perforation, or experiencing bleeding of the ear, should see a doctor immediately as this indicates a serious ear problem.  As with all home remedies, anyone using cones must assume full responsibility for their use and should always follow the manufacturer's instructions.
